Finding Joy

I live with chronic illness and struggle with depression, so joy is something that has often eluded me. However, I have found it very practical to focus instead on ENJOYING the present moment, squeezing as much happiness as I can out of the good in it.

Whether it is a cool breeze, a kind word, or a job well done, the good is always there, for God goes about lighting candles in the dark places of our lives. If we look for those blessings in certainty that we will find them our lives are richer, and we begin to walk in joy. The rich and poor alike can marvel at the stars! Ecclesiastes 8:15 reminds us that there is nothing better.

I Live in Candlelight

God is always lighting candles in the dark places of our lives. Sometimes I feel as if I am consumed in darkness. But in truth, my Papa quietly moves through the darkness sparking little blessings of light. Look! They are all around you.

"I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living. [That's today!]" (Psalm 27:13 NASB).

Please don't stare into the darkness ... behold the candles! There is evil. There is good. Gaze into the good things. They are always there. It may feel very dark, but we live in candlelight.

"All the darkness in the world cannot hide the light of one small candle."

What's God Doing in There?

After I committed my life to Christ, I knew that Jesus lived in my heart. But what was He doing in there? I really didn't know.

Question Mark

It eventually became clear that the Living God wanted to express Himself through me: to live through me, to speak through me, to touch through me, to see through me, to love through me. And I determined to allow Him to do that as best I could.
But that doesn't make me a robot or a puppet, for the Scripture says that whoever is united with the Lord is one in spirit with Him (1 Corinthians 6:17). Did you notice the lower-case "s" in spirit? That means my unique little spirit is inextricably united with the Holy Spirit. Nothing can ever undo it.

Together we believers are a bit like a stained glass window. Each of us has an individual shape and color, so the same Light shines through every person differently in keeping with the way he or she was designed. The Light and the glass become one breathtaking expression of beauty.

Oh, Papa God, may you shine through me today!

With love,

Cyndi
